Rules? What rules?

Since there were no ships running, as you know some friends and I gathered at the Locks Visitors' Center to enjoy a few moments of relaxation.    I don't understand why someone got so excited about what I was holding in this picture.  What's the problem?

Soo Locks Opening Day 09

The CCL, along with a dedicated, loyal, die-hard bunch of Boatnerds met at the Locks Visitor Center for some fun and fellowship while awaiting the arrival of the first boat of the season. During that time, the CCL, along with her pal and fellow mischief maker, Sonny da Moose, toured the Visitors center and were caught in several situations, where, while appearing "innocent", it was apparant they were having much fun together. The entertained the group gathered and then when they heard the boat was coming, they scooted on out of there to get to Mission Point for the salute and wave from the Captain of the Algosar, heralding the start of another year of boatwatching and fun at Boatnerd gatherings. At the end of the day, CCL headed west, Sonny da Moose headed southeast, promising to meet again in June at the Boatnerd Picnic, where it promises to be MUCH warmer and many more friends to visit and entertain...........

Slow Shipping, Slow Sales

The possible slow start of this coming shipping season has me very worried.  It's bad enough that some ships, for reasons of their own, want to refuse to let be aboard, but it could be there won't be enough of a market for my cakes.  I may have to resort to selling to boatnerds.  You might catch me at some gatherings this year.  I will start with Opening Day at the Soo Locks.  But then, if those ships are traveling in as much ice as last year, they'll be slower, and I'll be able to sneak, I mean climb, aboard.  After all, no cake sales, no Trenary Toast, no cola-colored beverages, a real economic disaster if there ever was one.

CCL's #1 Fan

Besides being "stuck" on an iceflow.....I am stuck on "me"....I AM my biggest fan....pun intended.......it's all that TT and Cola Colored Liquid that got me into this shape in the first place. My Carrot Cakes are virtually "calorie-free".............so don't blame it on them! LOL

Selling cakes.

Yes, I do occasionally find my way onto a ship.  My carrot cakes are greatly desired by all who sail.  No, they didn't really throw me overboard.
My friend, who seems surprised that I landed on her shoulder, will vouch for me.

It's Me!

Okay, that's enough chatter from other people.  I'm going to write for myself this time.  I, although not a slave to fashion, chose to be out in the cold without a jacket because I didn't want anything to hide my beauty.  You might find me out there again during Opening Day at the Soo Locks, if you're so fortunate.  There may or may not be a carrot cake involved.  Don't let my beauty stun you.  Just come over to say hello.

Friends

The CCL has many friends, some of them pictured here.

I Have Friends....

Don't let these pictures of the CCL  enjoying some beverages make you think that she was not capable of steering the Chief Shingwauk.  She did a very good job of it, and later enjoyed the view.

Introduction

Once upon a time three friends were overheard discussing a mysterious figure (pardon the expression) who liked to bake carrot cakes and purvey them to sailors.  This, um, figure, dresses in a blue dress, blonde wig, and floppy hat.  Other favorites of hers are Trenary Toast, otherwise known as TT, and a cola-colored beverage.  She has been known to try to smuggle TT across the St. Mary's River, and has also been seen floating on an ice cake and water-skiing behind various water craft including the Not Quite Fucsia-colored Carver and the speedy Edward L. Ryerson!  Some pictures of her escapades are posted here.
